Saturday - day 1 of week 2 session 2 on the camp calendar

I still can't put titles on my posts....

Kate was awake last night from 11 - 4... but i took a nap today when they did and actually i'm not really sleepy right now - ahh the power of caffeine.
the heat was a little better today - the girls' room only got up to 86 degrees (their noise machine has a thermometer) and it cooled down really fast tonight so that's nice - especially because I think Kate has some heat rash...
we haven't really seen much of matt today or yesterday - the last day of camp and the first day tend to be the busiest for him - so maybe tomorrow! we have really done okay though. i guess this could be harder, but i am enjoying it - some moms i know have a tough time "on assignment" but i am loving it - and it helps that we have a great team and the property is great for families - although it is basically on the side/valley of a mountain so i will have calves of steel from pushing my stroller filled with 50+ pounds of kids uphill several times a day - i try to pack the stroller strategically so we don't forget anything and have to go back - i only made that mistake a couple of times!
right now it is 10:30 here and the kids are doing an obstacle course right below our lodge - i had to shut the sliding door in the girls's room so they wouldn't have dreams of becoming spies - all the music is 007 and mission impossible - not to mention the screams of girls (and boys) as they are being pelted with water balloons and whatnot. i have a feeling this week will be a little more crazy and energetic than last week - the difference between high school and middle school kids i guess...
sorry for no new pics today! I kept thinking I would take some of the buses rolling into camp, but we were swimming when the kids were coming in. We have Pueblo, Colorado here this week (that will be the closest area to Wichita while we are here) and 2 Capernaum groups (Read this if you are not familiar http://www.younglife.org/Capernaum/ ) I was in tears just watching the kids show up at camp - it may be a long week for me and my heartstrings!

  1. Hi Kids,
We are home now and will try to get back into the grove. It is great to see all the pictures of the camp and girls. Mom is improving some. Let me know of any special needs. I will send a box this week. Miss you! Love ya lots. Grandma and Grandpa

  2. is that a king size bed? I'm sooo jealous. Brian's side has been reduced to a sliver, and I'm still not happy.

Mich and I were wondering what you might like in a little care pkg? needs or wants? diapers? US weekly issue? perhaps a window unit? lol! sounds like you don't need food. you'll have to give us some ideas.

  4. Ooo...I want calves of steel! :-) We are practically in a drought here, so I feel your pain. Usually it's green here and KS is all dry and brown. It's been in the 90s the past few days. I only have a window air conditioner in my bedroom, so the rest of my house is usually around 80 degrees. A water baloon fight sounds pretty good right now. :-)

  5. Tara,

My heart strings are being pulled too! I love imagining what you're experiencing at camp. It is great to be in KC for the summer but this is the first summer in about 14 years to not be at camp. CRAZY.

I can't believe you have drapes in your room at camp - high class! Really - I know that you are living sacrificially and that your room probably isn't too great. Thanks for posting the pics.

    Say hello to your family.
