Let's get this party started...

Ok so it's not really a party at all, but if the next couple months will mean years of my mom being in remission from her multiple myeloma then bring it on!  Easy for me to say since I'm not the one that will be going through the treatments.

I'm going to assume that if you are reading this then you are here to be updated on my mom, Becky, and her journey as she tackles a stem cell transplant head on to put her cancer in remission.  My goal is post every day or at least every other day for the next couple of months so anyone that would like can read what part of the treatment is going on that day, what to pray for and praises in the process so far.  I may also randomly throw in a picture of my kids because they are really cute and who doesn't like to see pics of cute kids.

Today's Treatment
No treatment today really although there is some major cleaning going on at her house to try to remove anything that could possibly lead to infection over the next little while.
Tomorrow will be the cathetar placement for her to receive the injections and whatnot to follow.

Today's Prayer Requests
*Actually we are going to start with one for my dad, Stan.  He has been fighting a head cold.  Please pray that it would be gone now and that there would be no chance for germs to get an early hold.
*Pray for peace for mom today that there would be no last minute doubts about this being the right thing to do and that she would be as healthy as possible to start this whole process.

Today's Praises
*Praise God for the advances in medicine that allow this process to be out patient so she can be in the comfort of her home and that it has become a much less painful and invasive process (to my understanding :)).
*Praise God that if things go according to the schedule Mom will be able to be with me to welcome granddaughter #4 into the world in just under 8 weeks!  She has been able to be there for the other 3 so I fully plan on her being able to be there for this one too!

This is a psalm I found a couple months ago that really made me think of mom...
*disclaimer I am not a biblical scholar or claiming to be so no comments on my misinterpretations please (or my bad spelling since I can't find the spellcheck on here!)  :)
Psalm 3

A psalm of David. When he fled from his son Absalom.

1 LORD, how many are my foes! (cancer cells)
How many rise up against me!
2 Many are saying of me,
"God will not deliver him."
3 But you, LORD, are a shield around me,
my glory, the one who lifts my head high.
4 I call out to the LORD,
and he answers me from his holy mountain.
5 I lie down and sleep;
I wake again, because the LORD sustains me.
6 I will not fear
though tens of thousands assail me on every side.
7 Arise, LORD!
Deliver me, my God!
Strike all my enemies on the jaw;
break the teeth of the wicked. (Kill all those bad cells!  Kick that cancer out!)
8 From the LORD comes deliverance.
May your blessing be on your people.

Lord, we know that you are the great Healer and Deliverer!  We ask for healing for Becky and deliverance from a cancer that supposedly is not cureable.  We know that you are able! Amen

  2. Oh Tara, thanks for sending this out. I had heard your mom was battling cancer but we have never had time to talk about it. I am very thankful you are blogging again ;) and that I can follow you and pray for you.
