Kate's Funny Obsession

Kate has this funny new obsession - I really can't think of a better word for it. She absolutely loves - I might even say needs - to put on Macy's panties. Often several pairs at a time. It started a few months ago when she would find them laying around their room and would string them on her arms like bracelets. Now however she has figured out to put them on her legs - although more often than not, she will have both legs through one hole which makes her waddle around - making the whole thing even funnier!



The upside of her funny behavior is that she also is excited to use the big potty like macy. So we have dug out the dora seat and at least once a day she gets to sit on there and give it a try. So far no actual pottying has occured, but she has the whole process down - from grunting to wiping to washing hands afterward. More than once she has patted the potty but by the time I get her pants and diaper off (or macy off the potty) her diaper is newly wet, so I think she has some idea of when she needs to go.


Often she demands that the panties be put on over her diaper - I debate in my head sometimes if I shouldn't let her wear them over the diaper because it takes away the specialness of it when she will actually be able to wear them alone - honestly most days I decide it's not worth the fight and figure since she is at least interested in sitting on the potty that counts as enough to indulge her in the panty wearing. Although this has proven awkward more than once - such as when I drop her off at the KidZone at the YMCA and have to explain why there are panties on over her diaper. I guess I am just paranoid they will think I am delusional or something.
